Youth of the Year
The Youth of the Year program is designed to promote and recognize members’ service to the Clubs and community, academic performance, moral character, and contributions to family. Honorees are first chosen quarterly by their respective local Club. Those youth are then eligible to represent their Club in the King County Youth of the Year competition held annually in February at Benaroya Hall. The honoree chosen to represent King County will then move on to the state competition. Eventually, five regional winners meet each year in Washington D.C. to compete for the honor of becoming National Youth of the Year. Annually, the youth selected as National Youth of the Year is installed by the sitting President of the United States in a special ceremony in the Oval Office.
